Make Your Party Fabulous!

You don’t have to break the bank to impress guests at your next event.  Guests stay at a party if they feel comfortable, relaxed, and social.  The secret of a fabulous event is to spend your budget where it will most ple ase the people you’ve invited to attend.  So, for example, if you’ve chosen an outdoor venue and it’s sweltering outside, then a $10 fan may be a bigger hit than the newest trend in uplighting.   Keeping the guests’ experience in mind throughout your planning will ensure that your party ends up fabulous!

** Pick a Theme – Choosing a theme based on color, concept, or just what kind of atmosphere you want to achieve, will help give your party focus and provide inspiration for deciding on the rest of the details.  Tying everything to a central theme will also help make everything feel coordinated and organized.

** Plan Early & Enlist Help – start pulling together details as you find them.  Having time gives you an opportunity to shop for deals, order online, and change your mind.  Get friends advice on where to spend money to get the most bang for your buck and keep your guests’ best interest in mind.  Also, if a few friends can help you set up the night before the event, it will keep you from panicking about any last minute details.

** Create a Flow – Having enough space so that guests don’t feel crowded and not so much that it feels like people didn’t show up, is key to getting guests to mix & mingle.  You want to create areas where guests can interact and ‘rub elbows’ as well as more ‘quiet’ areas where guests can eat, get away from the music, and carry on a conversation.

** Start the Party – Give guests something to do as soon as they arrive.  No one wants to be the first one in the door and then have nothing to do.  Give guests a drink, a nibble, and some music to set the mood.

** Have Fun – If you’re having fun, your guests will have fun.  It’s a lot of pressure to be the host, so be sure that you have enough help during your event so that you’re not running around refilling chips instead of visiting with your guests.
